Portrait Process
When you commission Patty to paint a portrait she will initially meet with you to become acquainted with everyone involved in the creation of the painting and to understand your needs and requirements for the portrait. Size, background preference, clothing choice and any special elements will be discussed and agreed on.
The next step is the photography session. Patty will take from fifty to one hundred and fifty photographs of the subject at the chosen location. She photographs the subject in several different settings, using different lighting, poses and outfits (if desired).
You will then meet to review the photographs and to agree on a final pose.
At this point, if needed, Patty paints a small oil sketch for your final approval on the pose (this sketch is not for likeness). During the process, Patty will provide the Client with a digital photo of the work for approval.
When the portrait is completed, a final meeting will be scheduled for delivery.

Portrait Fees
Each portrait is as individual as the person who is being painted. Patty’s commissioned oil portraits start at $3000.00 for a life size head and shoulders with a simple background. Three-quarter and full length portraits add proportionally to the cost. Complex backgrounds and clothing, multiple subjects, and pets are also considered in the final price. Patty's watercolor, pastel, or charcoal portraits start at $500.00.
This will all be discussed and agreed upon at the time of the commission and the price will be stated in the contract. Not included in the price on the contract are travel expenses, framing, sales tax, and shipping where these are applicable.
